Hours for Labor Day September 5th, 2011 are 8-11 am
Tomorrow from 7:30 AM until 12:30 PM Crossfit Mercer will be hosting the “31 Heroes” workout in remembrance of the 31 brave souls that lost their lives in an August 6th, 2011 helicopter attack. All are welcome to participate and/or watch regardless of membership. Just please remember to register and pay the $31 donation at the official 31 heroes website before (or even after) the workout. Also, we are anticipating a big crowd tomorrow at Crossfit Mercer so we are asking that everyone chooses a time slot at http://www.signupgenius.com/go/31heroes.
Lastly, I wanted to share some of my own thoughts about this workout with everyone. This workout looks to be a fitting reminder of the sacrifices our servicemen and women make every day to keep America free and prosperous. I think it is important that everyone pushes themselves past their comfort zones tomorrow. For example, I’ve been dreading 155 lb thrusters since the workout was released because I’ve only done a few at that weight in my life, but I have no intentions of scaling down… even if they slow me down to a snail’s pace. If you struggle with one of the prescribed elements of the workout you will have a teammate there to pick you up and keep you moving. The atmosphere tomorrow will be electric and I’m confident that we’ll see people completing tasks they never imagined they could.
With that said, please don’t take my message as a suggestion to put yourself in dangerous positions because that is not my intention at all. I want to see high intensity, maximum effort, competition, and camaraderie… All the things we love about Crossfit and the USA.

Tessein that was well said! I am scared to death of rope climbs since I have never done them and I’m sure suck at it. Yesterday I pulled back with the deads but I will be there tomorrow morning giving it my all!
Remember we are the home of the free……… because of the brave!

Anthony, with that said, I’m gonna climb that rope regardless of the pain from the rope burn! Very well put! Excited but I have to admit, alittle scared.
See you all in the am!! God Bless America!

Coach — thanks for the pep talk — can’t wait to go hard on this. My legs are still smoked from the max rep thruster the other day, but I am hoping to get that worked out tonight. For all, here are some good tutorials on rope climbing. I have not had a chance to implement the instruction due to my intense leg soreness, but I am hoping that it works:
